CSOs Raise Alarm Over Tense Atmosphere Ahead of Osun Governorship Election

With just hours to the Osun State governorship election, civil society organizations under the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room have expressed concern over the tense political climate in the state.

The Co-Convener of the Situation Room, alongside other members, addressed journalists in Osogbo, the state capital, on Friday. They called on INEC, security agencies, and voters to work together to ensure a peaceful, free, fair, and credible election.

AIT crew also spoke with some residents of Osogbo on the streets, who shared their expectations ahead of the polls.

Meanwhile, the newly inaugurated Situation Room, made up of over 70 civil society organizations, is set to observe the election in real time. The group will work with partners to collate reports from across the state’s 30 Local Government Areas and 332 elector
